For over two decades, Anand has dealt with many of the most high-profile, complex and politically sensitive cases. He has been involved in investigations and prosecutions in over 50 countries and recent examples include the US prosecution concerning the HP takeover of Autonomy, the German and Danish investigations into Cum-Ex Trading Schemes, the Mueller investigation into President Trump, the Malaysian 1MDB prosecution, the Partygate investigation in the UK, the criminal investigation following the Grenfell Tower fire, the Covid Inquiry and the collapse of FTX in the US.
Anand has dealt with numerous Serious Fraud Office investigations including those involving Alstom, Tesco plc, Rolls Royce plc, GSK plc, Bluu Solutions Limited, Bailli Group, Unaoil, Petrofac, ENRC, Serco plc, Greenergy and Glencore plc. He acted for the former Finance Director of Wickes plc who was acquitted after a 10 month trial in which over 100 witnesses were heard.
Anand has advised many high profile business people and those in the public eye including a serving Prime Minister, former Deputy Prime Minister, Deputy Foreign Minister, a member of a Middle Eastern Royal Family and three G20 governments. Anand also advises solicitors and law firms on compliance and deals with investigations undertaken by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and proceedings before the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal.
Anand has co-authored the leading textbooks on extradition law and writes the extradition chapter for Blackstone’s Criminal Practice. He is consultant editor for extradition in “Halsbury’s Laws of England” and was appointed by the UK Government to review the UK’s extradition arrangements. Anand is a former member of the Law Society Criminal Law and International Human Rights Committees and is a member of the Advisory Board of “Halsbury’s Laws of England”.
