Jonathan Spicer is a Senior Asset Recovery Specialist at the Basel Institute on Governance, where he advises prosecutors, investigators and policy makers on investigating and prosecuting high value corruption, bribery, fraud and embezzlement cases and recovering stolen assets through domestic and international enforcement. Prior to joining the Institute in 2017, Jonathan had been a barrister in independent practice for 17 years prosecuting and defending in cases of serious and organised crime, fraud and the proceeds of crime. For three years, he pioneered a roving liaison prosecutor role for the UK Crown Prosecution Service to enhance international cooperation on asset recovery cases. For over a decade he has edited the proceeds of crime section of a leading consumer law publication.
